Simply put, I am opposed to the vaccine study. These children’s immune systems are not yet fully mature and I feel their systems are already overwhelmed by the numerous vaccines they are given. Why risk a live virus vaccine in our country where no cases exist? I feel the threat is overblown- smallpox is not as serious as the public is made to believe- there is time AFTER exposure to get vaccinated. As a parent deeply concerned about the risks of the dangers of vaccines and our children, I ask you to not go through with this study.

You recently asked the public whether or not it is a good idea to give children aged 2 to 5 year% the smallpox vaccination Here are some reasons you should not conduct this vaccination.

First of all, 40 children are not enough to test on. When and if you follow through with the vaccination, how do you determine what children will be used? What race and ethnicity will you be using? -What gender of the sample population? What is the financial back round of the sample population’s parents ? How would you-get parents to let you give this vaccination to their child without knowing what reactions the child has to it? You need to think of these questions before going through with the vaccination because many parents won’t Iet you test their child without knowing the effects of the vaccination. Dr. Julia McMillan of Johns Hopkins University, a spokeswoman for the Amsrican Academy of Pediatrics said, ‘I would certainly want these trials to be conducted before I would want my child to be vaccinated." Yet, if you think about it, what if every parent thinks this way? Then no trials Would be conducted and we won’t know how it affects someone.

Second; if you inoculate the sample populations for a month, don’t you think you are taking a month out of their lives? The ages between 2 and S are when children begin to grow socially. You may not think this is a lot but if they are inoculate for 30 days, that’s 30 days without interaction with other kid and/or family. Another thing to think about is what about education and schooling:. How are the children going to learn if the aren’t in school?

As I was reading different articles, I was wondering why there was talk about bioterrorism. I thought to myself, if there was a bioterrorist attack coming, why wouldn’t this issue have come up earlier in the past few months? Does the government know something, we don’t?

AS I stated before, I don’t agree with the smallpox vaccination due to the fact that the children can spread smallpox if they touch the affected site and then touch someone else near the eyes mouth or nose, it gives the child no medical benefit and they are socially inactive for a month. I hope you take this into consideration when deciding on whether or not to go through with the vaccinations.

I do hereby register my objection to mass smallpox vaccines to anyone in the U.S., especially 2-5 year old children.

My suspicion is that about as much research went into the short and long-term deliterious effects of this vaccine as went into the swine flu vaccines that failed miserably in the supposed mid 70’s “epidemic”.  Whatever happened to a follow up review from the CDC about this dismal failure?  Why was this never reported?  Why isn’t the public educated by the CDC that most all of these vaccines are immune suppressants and, therefore, create a host of complications?

Since we haven’t learned from the past, we insist on repeating the same stupid mistakes we made back then.

Dear Sir/Madame – I urge you to discontinue any testing of Dryvax in Children. Using our children as lab subjects is in-humane. This really disturbes me while I understand the US is fearful of biological warfare I think this is a bit drastic.  We know of all the deadly side effects of this vaccine and yet you want to do a study on 2-4 year olds.  I can tell you there is no way my child would every be submitted to such a dangerous and lethal vaccine, especially since there as been no direct threat of smallpox on this country as far as you all have told us.  I would never support such a barbaric vaccine to be adminstered into little children knowing some of them would die and many would have severe side effects, not to mention the side effects from the other toxins in the vaccine itself                    Thank you Tia Acosta
